The Care That Was Near And Dear
I was diagnosed with lung cancer in Dec 2013, and it metastasized to my other lung in 2015, I suffered with unbearable pain. I thought my life was over until I started with palliative care. Chemotherapy took care of the cancer but palliative care gave me back my life and saved me. The care team took care of my pain, and addressed mental and emotional struggles. They were also there to support my family. I wanted at that point to fight for my life. I found such peace and strength once my plan of care was in place. I knew my wishes would be followed by my amazing team and family. Today I volunteer at that hospital doing hand message for chemo patients and at the patient information desk. I also speak at events with my oncologist/Palliative care doctor to promote this special care which is near and dear to my heart.
