A Warm Welcome and Goodbye

On Memorial Day, a local police officer received a personal escort, to United Hospice of Rockland’s Joe Raso Hospice Residence where he came to spend the remainder of the time he had left.

He received a welcome befitting a king. Nearly 100 police officers gathered to line the driveway as the ambulance arrived. He made the effort to hug and/or shake the hand of every officer that was there to greet him. There was not a dry eye in the house. We felt honored to bear witness to this and to care for someone who was so beloved and served our community for many years.
